Emergency Call Boxes

SIUC has installed yellow emergency call boxes (speaker phones) on campus. They are labeled “Emergency.” Some are mounted on red poles topped with blue strobe lights.  These lights activate when a call is made.  In an emergency, press and release the red button to reach the SIUC Police automatically. The call box automatically dials 911.

Twenty call boxes with a blue strobe light are located near sidewalks and in parking lots around campus.


Four call boxes are mounted on the two pedestrian overpasses. Each overpass has a call box near each end.

Twenty-three call boxes are mounted near each entrance of the Residence Halls on the East campus and Thompson Point.
